Holiday Season – December 2010

Hello everybody – we want to wish the best of the holiday season to all our readers and everybody else as well!

As you probably know or have figured out, we are located in north-central Switzerland. Our winter has been relatively extreme so far – an unusual amount of snow and sub-zero (that’s below freezing for you Fahrenheit people) temperatures so far. If it continues this way, it could be one of the coldest winters on record.

What you most likely do not know, is that Jimmy Craig is working double shifts, so to say, since he is not only doing his self-appointed work on all the Jimmy Craig websites and our joint venture sites in Sue and Craig Websites. He is also full-time VP and CEO of a startup company called GEOCOGEN AG. Also located here in Canton Zug.

GEOCOGEN® the company is developing and attempting to commercialise a modern system for harvesting heat from the Earth’s crust, and turning it into electricity and steam. That is not so new. The Italians and the Americans and the Icelanders and the Phillippinos have been doing the same thing for some time. The main differences are that the other systems are based on unique geological conditions at the location, and that the production comes from a large number of relatively small systems. The GEOCOGEN Power Plant will harvest energy from the base rock at 7 to 15 km (5 to 10 miles) deep, and will do it on a scale that makes it real competition for commercial thermal power plants of every ilk. The base configuration produces 1 GigaWatt (1’000 MegaWatts) of electrical energy, and 2 GW of thermal energy. The size of the unit makes it the best choice economically, as well. If you are interested and want to see more, please navigate to http://geocogen.com.

There is not much new to report about the websites this month. There is a new version of The Internet Monetized, which talks about how passively to earn money online. This is real, not megabucks, but a nice income for people who are able to invest a little cash ($500 maximum).

Also in the website department, there soon will be a new website for GEOCOGEN. This will not replace the existing site at http://geocogen.net, but will supplement it as a business-oriented site in addition to the mostly-technical geocogen.net.

I think that’s about all for this year!

We wish you all the best for the coming year!

Winter Is Here! – November 2010

Hello again!

I don’t know what your weather situation is, but here, it is definitely winter – we had about 2½ cm of snow on the weekend (that’s about 1 inch) and dustings daily since then. The lowest recent temperatures were around -10C (14F), but at least it’s getting back up to around freezing during the days. Today was a real mixed bag – started out with fog and some new snow, but now it’s cloudless and sunny. Winter is really here.

We have been experimenting with some WordPress systems, for example, how to work with multiple websites all on autopilot from a main site. That is supposed to provide an easier functionality to make multiple blogs with the content multiplied over the slave blogs. I have to say that it gets fairly complicated, and I personally don’t like the results – they look exactly like what they are – copies with no redeeming value. There is supposed to be some SEO benefit, but I won’t sacrifice my principles for a few SEO points.

The fallout from the investigations above is a new website, called “The Internet Monetized“. Its purpose is to discover and publicise opportunities to make money passively online – if you think that is a good idea (I like it personally!) take a look at the site. You will find it at http://internetmonetized.com, but be aware – it is really new, it came online just this past weekend, and there are still many rough edges.

Also, you will discover (if you go that deep in this website) that we have updated our list of websites. There are some interesting things there (and probably some not, depending on your personal likes and dislikes).

Take a look around, if you haven’t already.

Ciao!

Craig
